Welcome Neighbor STL is gearing up for its annual Winter Party on Dec. 8, a time to spread cheer and create a fun experience for refugee children in the St. Louis area.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to noon in the parish hall on the St. John the Baptist campus, 4200 Delor St., St. Louis, 63116. And there are still ways for volunteers to help.
As numbers of displacement skyrocket around the globe and people struggle to resettle in high-income countries, mental health isn’t a priority, or for a lack of better words it’s not even on their radar with other things to worry about.
"Our supper club program helps immigrant and refugee families, especially ladies, to become a little bit independent,” Zaimi said. “I mean truly independent, especially financially independent."
