You are invited to a Welcome Neighbor STL drive-thru supper club event to support refugee families in St. Louis. These events help rebuild lives and rebuild hope for the cooks who share their talents and culture. The ripple effect of these events reaches the volunteers who assist, and the generous supporters who continually nurture this endeavor.

Immigrant chefs and WNSTL volunteers will prepare your meal and deliver a 6-course Afghan and Syrian dinner directly to your car with a wide smile and heartfelt thank you.

These meals present an opportunity for refugee families to share knowledge and skills unique to them.  It is also an opportunity for us to get a glimpse into their culture. These fundraising efforts can set them on a path of greater independence and confidence in their lives here in in the USA.  We are appreciative of our past and future supporters who feed our soul and we hope we return the favor.

Drive up to pick up your to go Dinner on Friday, June 16th from 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm at STL Foodworks, 408 N Sarah Street, St. Louis, MO 63108. Our volunteers will bring your dinner directly to your car.

The menu is $35 and contains:

3 Afghan items:

ASHAK:

A fresh pasta filled with scallions, leeks and cilantro, served with yogurt-garlic sauce. seasoned with coriander, turmeric and cayenne pepper, sprinkled with mint.

BOLANI:

A popular street food and a crowd pleaser. Flatbread made of unleavened dough that is stuffed and pan fried, but its real beauty comes from the vegetable stuffing inside. Typically, the dough is stuffed in a variety of ways including mashed potato, or green and red lentils, leeks or chives, or pumpkin.

GOSH E FIL (dessert):

Known as elephant’s ear is a fried sweet pastry with dough made from flour, milk, eggs, and sugar. These crunchy pastries are also sprinkled with powdered cardamom, icing sugar, and crushed pistachios.

3 Syrian items:

BABA GHANOUSH:

An appetizer made of chopped roasted eggplant, olive oil, lemon juice, various seasonings, and tahini.

CHICKEN SHAWARMA SANDWITCH:

With chicken, mayonnaise, and pickles, wrapped in pita bread.

JALLAB JUICE:

Is a popular fruit syrup made from Middle Eastern syrup of carob, dates, and grapes. It is especially well known in Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon.
