Event Details

On Saturday, March 28th at 11:30 am, Webster Hills UMC invites you to an International Welcome Neighbor STL Supper Club to support immigrant and refugee families in St. Louis. Enjoy food, conversation, and catching up with friends – old and new. From cultural exchange to just plain fun, look forward to a great afternoon.

These meals present an opportunity for immigrant and refugee families to share knowledge and skills unique to them. It is also an opportunity for us to get a glimpse into their culture. These fundraising efforts can set them on a path of greater independence and confidence in their lives here in the USA.

The International menu is $40 and contains:

YALLANJI (Syria):

Grape leaves stuffed with rice, Mediterranean spices, tomatoes, and lemon juice.

KABULI POLAW (Afghanistan):

Basmati rice cooked with onion, saffron, black pepper, cardamom, coriander, and cumin. Topped with raisins, nuts and julienned carrots.

MANTU (Afghanistan):

Similar to a wonton dumpling and filled with lentils, tomatoes, onion, coriander, and cumin. Drizzled with yogurt and tomato sauce.

KIBBEH (Syria):

A deep-fried bulgur stuffed with beef, pine nuts, a bit of onion, and Mediterranean spices.

BAKLAVA (Morocco):

A rich pastry dessert made of layers of filo, filled with a blend of chopped nuts including peanuts, almonds, pistachios, and cashews, and sweetened with honey.
