Event Details

On Saturday, September 30th at 6:00 pm, Eliot Unitarian Chapel in Kirkwood invites you to a Welcome Neighbor STL Supper Club to support immigrant and refugee families in St. Louis. Enjoy food, conversation, and catching up with friends – old and new. From cultural exchange to just plain fun, look forward to a great evening.

These meals present an opportunity for immigrant and refugee families to share knowledge and skills unique to them. It is also an opportunity for us to get a glimpse into their culture. These fundraising efforts can set them on a path of greater independence and confidence in their lives here in the USA.

Carryout option is available: You can also pick up your meals from 6pm to 8pm

The menu is $35 and contains:

MOROCCAN SALAD:

Carrot salad with Moroccan charmoula (Marinade of Herbs and Spices: cilantro, parsley, garlic, olive oil, and cumin).

AFGHAN APPETIZER:

Mantu (Afghan dumplings): Similar to a wonton dumpling and filled with lentils, tomatoes, onion, coriander, and cumin. Drizzled with yogurt and tomato sauce.

MOROCCAN ENTREE:

Sweet chicken tagine with caramelized onion, dried prunes, olive oil, herbs, cinnamon, ginger, and turmeric.

AFGHAN SIDE:

Bolani: A popular street food and a crowd pleaser. Flatbread made of unleavened dough that is stuffed and pan fried, but its real beauty comes from the vegetable stuffing inside. Typically, the dough is stuffed in a variety of ways including mashed potato, or green and red lentils, leeks or chives, or pumpkin.

MOROCCAN DESSERT:

Coconut macaroons: Gluten Free macaroons made of Coconut, Vanilla, Sugar, and Eggs.
